Sa kabila ng mga nakalungkot na balita sa TV patrol noong nakaraang gabi, humanga ako sa galing ng apat na estudyanteng Tsi-Noy na itinanghal bilang kampeon sa Microsoft Imagine Cup 2010 na ginanap sa Warsaw, Poland. Sa ilalim ng Game Design Competition, nagwagi ang larong "Wildfire" ng Team By Implication ng Pilipinas. Ang "Wildfire" ay isang laro na hango sa naging karanasan nating mga Pilipino noong kasagsagan ng bayong Ondoy noong 2009. Paano ito laruin? Panoorin nyo ito:
Ang galing, hindi ba? Simple lang ang graphics, pero napaka "unique" ng ideya nila Philip Cheang, Wilhansen Li, Rodrick Tan (Ateneo de Manila University), Levi Tan Ong (University of the Philippines) at Kenneth Yu (De La Salle University) na syang bumubuo sa Team By Implication at kumatawan sa Pilipinas sa nasabing kumpetisyon. Ang nakakatuwa pa, ayon sa balita sa TV Patrol World, wala silang "raw knowledge" talaga sa game design and development. Nakakabilib ang mga batang ito! Opponents like rampant poverty, gender inequality, inadequate education and environmental degradation cannot be defeated by marching armies, secret potions or magic swords. This is a game about how they can be defeated.Through volunteerism, social interaction, and nonviolent activism, players will explore a sprawling urban landscape, building up grassroots support and seeking legislation on key Millennium Development Goals. Standing in their way are the menacing agents, representing the various forces opposing positive societal change.Wildfire's ultimate goal is not only to offer a challenging, immersive gameplay experience, but also to promote universal awareness of the UN MDGs, and how they can be achieved through concrete action."-----Team by Implication
