Quite funny but true. In Siargao Island, two candidates for Barangay Chairman garnered the same number of votes. It was really a deadlock for the two Barangay Chairman candidates. And how do they deal with it? They broke the deadlock with a coin tossing. Yup! According to Philippine Information Agency (PIA), coin tossing is a legal and acceptable way of settling deadlocks when candidates garner the same number of votes. Commissions on Elections (Comelec) and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) officials witnessed the coin tossing wherein Godofredo Sajol beat the incumbent barangay chairperson Apple Tiu.
